Ethiopia's Prime Minister, a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, has once again revealed his inclination towards militarism. Recently, he referenced Elon Musk's aspirations to support a troubling idea: the invasion of Eritrea to take control of its Red Sea ports. During a significant speech to the Ethiopian parliament, he remarked (paraphrased from Amharic), "If Musk can envision occupying Mars, why can't we Ethiopians aspire to claim Eritrea's Assab port, which lies just 30, 40, or 60 kilometers from our border?" This assertion not only blatantly disregards international law but also serves as a perilous provocation for war. By presenting the occupation of another nation's territory as a mere "dream," the Prime Minister is effectively priming the Ethiopian populace for yet another catastrophic conflict with Eritrea.
Prize upon a leader who openly promotes military aggression jeopardizes the award's integrity. Should the Committee choose not to revoke the Prime Minister's Nobel Prize, it risks diminishing its credibility and moral standing on the international stage.
